You will require a Merchant Account from one of our Partner Merchant Acquirers. Once you have the relevant Merchant Account setup, you can enter your Merchant Number into our online application process and proceed through the few simple steps to set up your Cardstream Payment Processing Account.
Don't worry - we can assist. We have very good relationships with the Merchant Acquirers and can often provide direct contact details for relationship managers. They can then take you through the Merchant Account application process. Please contact us if this is of interest.
Cardstream processes all the major card types and all the UK issued card types. We also process American Express, JCB and Diners. A full list can be seen at www.cardstream.com/paymentgateway/supported_cards.php.
Cardstream can process in any currency. To do this, you will require a Multi Currency Merchant Account to be set up by your chosen Merchant Acquirer. You will need to stipulate which currencies you wish to process with them and then inform us of those currencies during your Cardstream application process.
Cardstream only authorises payments. We never handle or control any funds through the authorising or settlement process.
The length of time it takes for funds to appear in your settlement account depends on the terms and conditions you have with your Merchant Acquirer - we have seen this settlement period take up to 30 days! However, with some positive online trading history, it's more typical for it to appear within the following three working days.
Yes - Cardstream operates a real time Merchant Management System, where you can view and manage all your transactions securely.
Yes - we can offer refund functionality via the API or manually, via the Merchant Management System.
Yes - we provide Integration Documents and Test Account details for this purpose.

Yes, Cardstream can setup a merchant's account so that only debit or credit cards can be processed.
Cardstream have been offering online payment services since 1999.
Whenever a successful transaction has taken place on a Cardstream system, the merchant will be returned a unique alphanumeric string called a cross-ref. This cross-ref allows you to charge the card used up to 40 days after the original transaction - this allows you to complete recurring billing without the need to store credit card data.
